Parowan Safari

After a quick breakfast and reading email, we hit the road again heading for Ely and then on to Parowan.

We stopped at Ely to pick up beer (after all you can’t have a soaring safari if you don’t have beer!). We also dropped by the airport and ran into Carl Herold. After a bit of catching up with him, we hit the road again and a few hours later arrived in Parowan. The whole drive from the bay area took us about 16 hours.

Given there was still time left in the day, we started assembling the gliders and met a few other pilots. John & Pat were from southern California; Lemmy & Gavin from Tropic Bird Soaring & glideomarama.com.

After we were done with the gliders and checked into the hotel in town, we headed to Ceder City (15 miles south) for dinner with everyone else and had a great meal accompanied with great conversation.

Drive to Parowan - Day 2
